    Transat Paprec, the event kicked off

    The village of the Transat Paprec was inaugurated this Tuesday afternoon, the 15th of April. All of the skippers were present alongside the representatives of the main partners of this edition including Paprec Group, the Brittany Region, the town of Concarneau, the CCI Finistère - Quimper délégation and the Collectivity of Saint-Barthélemy. From now on, 5 days of exchanges, discussions and celebrations. This afternoon, the skipper set the tone by participating in the Alex Picot Challenge ePrologue, won by Jules Ducelier and Sophie Faguet (Région Normandie).

    Trieste, renowned in the sailing world as Italy’s City of Sails, is preparing to spend a week as the Capital of the Melges 24 as it gets ready to host the Melges 24 World Championship 2025 on September 20-27. This marks the first time the Melges 24 Worlds will be held on the Adriatic Sea.

    The 2025 Melges 24 European Sailing Series officially set sail this weekend with its season-opening event – Luki Baustoffe CRO Melges 24 Cup 2025 Opatija - in the scenic town of Opatija, Croatia. Hosted by Yacht Club Croatia at ACI Marina Ičići, and organized in partnership with the Croatian Melges 24 Class, the regatta welcomed 24 teams from six nations, including a strong lineup of returning champions and Corinthian contenders.

    Since winning the 37th America’s Cup in October last year The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron and Emirates Team New Zealand have been intent on exploring the possibility of hosting the 38th America’s Cup in Auckland with the understanding it would take a combination of private backing, Local Government as well as Central Government support to make it happen, but not at the expense of funding other priorities in the tough economic climate.

    Northstar Canada claimed their inaugural win of the 2025 Season – the first for the team since March 2023 (Season 3) and the first with double Olympic gold medalist Giles Scott as driver. Defeating league heavyweights New Zealand (2nd) and Australia (3rd), today’s result makes four different winners in as many events, as competition across the Rolex SailGP Championship heats up.

    The Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team have claimed their inaugural 2025 Season victory on Championship Sunday in Sydney. The win was also a first for driver Dylan Fletcher after a hard-fought three-boat showdown against the Northstar Canada SailGP Team, who finished second, and hometown favorites, Australia in third.

    RORC 600 Caribbean, tension rises in sight of the start

    Starting on the 24th of February, the 16th edition of the RORC Caribbean 600 has attracted close to 500 sailors from 38 different countries. For the third occasion, the Caribbean’s major offshore race is preceded by the inshore regatta, the RORC Nelson’s Cup Series, which runs from the 18-21 February. Over 20 teams are expected, including a record seven Maxis, with a fleet of 24 boats in the 48NM Antigua 360 Race. In total, over 70 boats will be racing with the Royal Ocean Racing Club, supported by the Antigua Yacht Club.

    Oggi martedì alle 08:34 UTC, dopo 85 giorni, 20 ore e 32 minuti in mare, Giancarlo Pedote ha tagliato il traguardo del Vendée Globe al largo di Les Sables d’Olonne. Lo skipper di Prysmian, che quattro anni fa aveva concluso la regata con un eccezionale ottavo posto, questa volta ha completato la circumnavigazione del globo in 22ª posizione.

    After the pin system which secures his J2 forestay broke Bellion had effected some kind of fix a few days ago. But following another failure and facing a storm forecast in an area where he had no options to repair, fearing for the safety of his mast Bellion chose to head into the Falklands where he came alongside a pontoon in 35kts winds. Stepping on land there he announced his withdrawl from this, his second Vendée Globe. Bellion is the sixth skipper to retire.
