    Star Western Hemisphere Championship, Paul Cayard and Brad Nichol are the winners

    Yesterday was a forced lay day for the 33-boat fleet gathered on Lake Sunapee, New Hampshire, for the 2022 Star Western Hemisphere Championship. The wind was light and a storm was predicted to arrive in the early afternoon, so after an attempt to get one race in, the Race Committee had to send the teams back for safety reason and call it for the day.

    Youth Foiling Gold Cup, twelve teams ready to race in Torbole

    Twelve international teams are getting ready to compete in Act 4 of the 69F Youth Foiling Gold Cup 2022 in Torbole at the northern end of Lake Garda in Italy. Competition will take place from 9 to 14 August out of Torbole, renowned as one of the world’s great venues for high-performance sailing - and high-speed foiling in particular.

    “Like a jewel in the sun” was how Montserrat Caballé and Freddy Mercury described Barcelona in their famous song about the Catalan capital and the city is starting to shine as preparations are well underway to welcome the teams to their new bases. Base allocation is coming together, just four months after the venue announcement, with the confirmed sites now ready for selection in strict order of entry as set out in the Protocol.

    GC32 World Championship, Black Star Sailing Team is the fourth World Champion

    K-Challenge Team France was the dominant force for the first half of this GC32 World Championship, held in Lagos, Portugal, but for the second half it was Christian Zuerrer’s Black Star Sailing Team which overtook the French after today’s third of four races. With outstanding consistency, the Swiss podiumed in every one of the last 10 races. This afternoon they were crowned the flying catamaran class’ fourth World Champions following Team Tilt, Alinghi and Red Bull Sailing Team.

    A miserable day weather-wise off the west coast of Sweden turned magnificent, like the fortunes of Nico Poons’ Charisma, which after three races today claimed the 44Cup Marstrand over Igor Lah’s Ceeref powered by Hrastnik 1860 and Chris Bake’s Team Aqua. This was the Dutchman’s second consecutive 44Cup win following his massive 12 point Cascais victory in May.

    Melges 24 European Sailing Series, Anna Luschan takes the Melges 24 Austrian title

    Segelclub Kammersee (SCK) in Litzlberg/Seewalchen on Attersee hosted the third event of the Melges 24 European Sailing Series on May 26-29. In tricky conditions it was Anna Luschan and her team of Michael Luschan, Jakob Bonomo, Toni Eigenstuhler and Lisa-Marie Bonomo bringing home the Austrian Champion title in Melges 24 class.

    Lake Neuchatel – SSL Team Antigua & Barbuda’s “Rum Runners,”SSL Team Estonia’s “Icebreakers”, SSL Team Ireland’s “Green Armada” and SSL Team Tahiti’s “Black Pears” are the first teams of SSL Gold Cup’s History to qualify to the Final Series.     America’s Cup, Tom Slingsby joins American Magic

    Nearly a decade ago, Tom Slingsby helped an American team win the most prestigious trophy in sailing, the 34th America’s Cup. In 2024, he hopes to do it again. New York Yacht Club American Magic is pleased to announce it has signed Slingsby, a 2012 Olympic gold medalist and multi-class world champion, to its sailing team for its pursuit of the 37th America’s Cup, which will be sailed off Barcelona, Spain, in the Fall of 2024.
