After two full years of hiatus in the schedule of the World Championships, the International Melges 24 Class returned to assign a most coveted World Title: it was October 2019 when in Villasimius Luca Perego’s Maidollis was crowned World Champion for the second time, and, after that moment the pandemic blocked everything, preventing the dispute of the 2020 and 2021 World Championship and the 2020 European Championship.
The second day of racing at 2022 Melges 24 World, hosted by Lauderdale Yacht Club (LYC) in Fort Lauderdale, delivered three excellent races sailed in bright sunshine and North-East winds of fourteen knots average.
Since the very first World Championship, the International Melges 24 Class has always had a clear understanding of what the Corinthian division would bring to the Melges 24 platform. It would highlight and offer the highest recognition to Melges 24 teams, commonly referred to as weekend warriors, that are ‘low budget’ in comparison to the glossy, professionals that the press and media so adore.
Organizers from the Lauderdale Yacht Club (LYC) in cooperation with the the International Melges 24 Class Association (IM24CA) and US Melges 24 Class Association (USM24CA) are pleased to announce the Notice of Race and website along with online entry portal are published for the Melges 24 World Championship 2022 held in Fort Lauderdale, FL USA over 7-15 May 2022.
