One year until America’s Cup race one

[Source: Emirates Team New Zealand] Over the past few years many people have wondered when, where and what on earth the next America’s Cup race was going to be.

All of a sudden it is exactly one short year until the start gun goes, the best challenger and the defender will charge at each other in race one of the America’s Cup.

Taking a nervous deep breath Kevin Shoebridge team COO says, “Daunting? Yes and no. When you look at what still has to be done by the team, there isn’t much time to be at a point where you will feel you are in good enough shape to compete. But then you look at how far we have come over the last two years and how much we have learnt. It will be a full on summer, then all of a sudden we will be in San Francisco so its pretty exciting as well.”

For all of the challengers, including Emirates Team New Zealand, just being on the start line in race one is just the first step towards the ultimate goal. You must first be good enough to sail in the America’s Cup for a chance to win the America’s cup.

Over the next 365 days there will be no drop in intensity at Emirates Team New Zealand to reach that goal- there is so much to do.
