The SCA Womens’ team for the next Volvo Ocean Race were first out of the gate to announce their campaign, order a new 65′ one-design, source a training boat (PUMA’s Mar Mostro), and are now well on their way to selecting their squad.
A core crew including Vendee Globe heroine Sam Davies (GBR), former Volvo crewmates on Amer Sports Too Carolijn Brouwer (NED), Liz Wardley (AUS) and Klaartje Zuiderbaan (NED), British Olympic match racer Annie Lush, , Figaro and Transat AG2R sailor Jeanne Gregoire (FRA), and Australian match racer Stacey Jackson.
The prospective crew are being coached and assessed by Volvo veterans Magnus Olsson, Brad Jackson and Joca Signorini first up was a blast in their Volvo Open 70 training boat from Southampton in the UK to the team’s training base at Puerto Calero on Lanzarote in the Canary Islands.
